Sharanam Inspiration and The Fastest Way Forward

 The growing appreciation

of our coming together
 and what's happening
 when we come together.

Just simply because —
 when we shout that out,
 that brings more energy into it —
 what's seen
 is enlivened.

So much
 we're not seeing,
 so it's not alive
 for us.

More is being seen,
 more is being revealed,
 Isn't that the spiritual path?

More and more
 is being revealed.

In Tantra,
 there are five aspects
 to the whole life process:

Creation,
 Preservation,
 Dissolution,
 Concealment,
 and Revelation.

The spiritual path
 is essentially a process
 of bringing Life
 out of its hiding —
 (no attention) —
 and allowing it
 to become a revelation.

Isn't that what a revelation is?

It was hiding in plain sight.

We have a term for this concealment:
 Maya.

The great illusion,
 the great veil
 that's covered us up —
 closed us —
 like cataract across the eyes.

It's closed us off
 from what's going on,
 if we just open our eyes
 and looked out from our deeper Self,
 rather than our psychology. 

I'm so happy
 we're together
 to do a bit of that.

 Would life make any sense at all
 if that wasn't the path?
To reveal
 that which is concealed.

Just a thought. 

We can all relate to this I’m sure…

These thoughts
 are less and less
 about me these days.

 Fucking hallelujah.

It's always a misery
 when I'm thinking about myself.
 It doesn't matter
 what I'm thinking about myself —
 whether I’m thinking I'm great
 or thinking I’m just useless —
 it's all misery.

Instead of thinking about me —
 it's just a better pastime.
 To think about God,
 to think about Life,
 to think about the great principles,
 the great laws of existence,
 the great, unbelievable
 revelation of Life —

That's just a way better way
 to use the mind.

Pondering these great truths.
 Reading great texts
 of those who have pondered
 before you.

 Wow.

Reading the lives
 of those who have walked the path.

Yes.

 Inspiring the crap
 out of ourselves —
 instead of putting crap
 into ourselves.

 I think it's about giving yourself permission
 to do exactly this.

I'm feeling more and more permission
these days

Could be because
 I've crossed the 50 barrier —
 and if you're still giving a shit
 after that,

you really need
 to take a good look at yourself.

Or maybe it's because
 we're all collectively
 giving each other
 a lot more permission.

 Real permission
 to live an inspired life.

Because you're not going to get it
 from many places.

So you are going to have to do
 a bit of graft yourself.

 You have to seek it out,
 you have to look —
 you have to make it happen.

Because there's so much
 to bring us down.
So to go up, as it were —

Environment is more powerful
 than will.

Create the best environment
 for yourself
 in your life
 that you possibly can.

Put reminders everywhere.
 Put stuff into your ears
 that reminds you.

 I'm not telling you what to do —
 I'm just telling you what I do
 just to share it out there
 with you.

I bet the quality of your input, though,
 is changing, isn't it?

It's natural, you know.

It's because your kind of resonance —
 your vibration —
 is changing.

Just the way you resonate,
 the way your energy sits —
 the pitch of it —
 feels attracted
 to certain things
 and unattracted to others.

Including things
 it used to feel attracted to,
 when it was vibrating
 a little bit more densely.

It's good to notice
 those changes.

And then it's just a case of —
 are you willing to change
 according to your resonance?

Are you ready
 to mourn and grieve
 the loss of your old life?

Was it really that great?

Is it not getting better?

Have you not been shown
 on the path
 that every step is better —
 even when it's tougher,
 even when you have to go through
 hardship or challenge?

It's going in the right direction —
 because you've got your orientation right.
 You're looking in the right direction now.
 You're looking up.

So it can only take you.

Wherever your eyes go,
 everything else follows.

Those can be inner eyes
 as well as outer eyes —
 but it's also true while shopping.

The spine follows the eyes.

Entering the Sharanam...

The Sharanam
 can be so many different things —
 which is why it's so bloody marvellous.

You can have so many different
 relationships with it.

One is this…

On the path,
 the way to ultimate diversity —
 that is,
 the ability to open to everything —
 is to actually get singular.

Which is strange...
 it's paradoxical —
 like most good stuff is.

The more singular you get,
 the more simple you get,
 the greater complexity you can contain.

The more of the majesty
 you can hold
 in the container of yourself.

So when we decide
 that we only need one thing
 in order to be secure —

when we decide
 we only need one thing
 for joy,

that we only need one thing
 in order to be in service,
 and be fulfilled.

That we only need one thing
 in order to be with love,
 that we only need one thing
 to be orientated with truth,

that we only need one thing
 to be with the One...

Oh — so simple.

So the Sharanam is there to inspire our conviction—
The One is enough.

And that One is within me.
 That One is the Self.
 That One is God.
 It's the Indweller.

When I'm dwelling with that —
 One is enough.

That One
 allows me to open
 and experience everything
 more and more fearlessly.

I can open to more
 because I'm with the One.

The moment I start
 to split myself up
 on the inside —
 and I'm with multiple things —

the shakier
 my ground becomes.

The more complex I become.
 The more confused I become.

And so on
 and so forth.

So going inside
 and confirming:
God alone is enough.

God is my security.
 God is my joy.
 I am in service of that.
 God is love.
 God is truth.
 God is One.

Enough for me.

I anchor myself in that.
 I walk in this world of diversity —
 happy,
 fearless,
  the occasional skip
when no one's looking.

That's it.
 That's the Sharanam.

To take refuge
 in the One,
 and to reclaim
 our security.

The fastest way forward
 is inward.

The Yamas say it:
 Go in.
 Trust what’s within you.

Not because it’s yours,
 or you’re special —
 but because it’s there.

Life operates from the inside out.

So go there.

It’s the best way.
 The clearest way.
 The cleanest way.
 The most aligned way.

And be ready to change.

Because what flows from within
 might not match
 what you thought from without.

So your life may have to change to come into alignment. 

It might involve some sorries.
 That’s okay.

Everyone is very forgiving
 in the end.

Let Life live through you.
 From within.
 That’s the real offering.

That’s the way
 your life becomes good
 not just for you,
 but for everyone.

You stop trying to please the world —
 and start pleasing Life.

And that
 pleases all.

One who walks the path of dharma,
 of truth —
 cannot be controlled.

Nothing can make your mind up for you.
 Nothing can move you
 against what you know to be true.

That’s freedom.

It’s strong, yes.
 But it’s real.

And freedom?
 It doesn’t come cheap.
 Not in the spiritual sense.

It costs
 total commitment to truth.
 Your truth.
 Lived from within.

The Confession

  "I have something that I have compiled over some time, I call them my confessions. I have a whole list of them, maybe one day I’ll get around to sharing them. They are good tools. They are also good fun because for me they are humbling and they remind me of some deep truths. One that I normally put at the top of the list of these confessions is “I confess I don't know anything” and I really try to mean it because it’s true. Nothing. You can’t know anything.
